ScienceDirect

ScienceDirect, features full-text access to major science, technology and medicine journals and books. On January 1, 2016,  ScienceDirect will no longer support access to these resources from Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8 browser. Modern browser versions such as Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox are fully supported by ScienceDirect. It is the library's understanding that the medical center maybe using the outdated Internet Explorer 8 browser. It is recommended that those affected contact the medical center information services help desk (x48889) to request an update to Internet Explorer or the install of a supported browser to continue to access ScienceDirect after January 1, 2016. You might also be aware that PubMed dropped support of Internet Explorer 8 as of January 1, 2013. Many features of PubMed do not display properly in Internet Explorer 8. Internet Explorer 8 was initially released on March 19, 2009 and was the last IE version supported on Windows XP.  Windows XP support ended April 8, 2014 which effectively ended IE 8.  IE 8 support officially ends January 12, 2016. The current Internet Explorer version is 11 and has many features that make it more secure.
