Borrowing material from Del E. Webb Memorial Library

Affiliated users

Students, faculty, and staff at Loma Linda University/Medical Center and other affiliated entities have borrowing privileges at the Del E. Webb Memorial Library.

Loan Periods:

  • Journals: Library Use Only
  • General Materials: 28 Days
  • Reserves: Two Hours to Seven Days
  • Reference: Library Use Only
  • Heritage: Library Use Only

Renewal:

Books may be renewed in person at the circulation desk by calling 909-558-4550, or you may renew online by viewing your circulation record on or before the due date. (Enter your name, barcode, and PIN number in the form to access this service.)

Overdue Charges:

Main Circulating Collection:

Regular checkout is for 28 days with a 14-day grace period; $1.00 per day fine per item accrues from the due date. Twenty days after the due date the book will be delinquent. Charges for the book and processing will be added to the fines if the book has not been returned.

Reserve Books:

  • 7-day: 1-day grace period; $2.00 per day fine accrues from the due date
  • 3-day: 1-day grace period; $2.00 per day fine accrues from the due date
  • 1-day: 4-hour grace period; $0.50 fine per hour or fraction of an hour accrues from the time due
  • 2-hour: 15-minute grace period; $1.00 fine per hour or fraction of an hour accrues from the time due

Items are placed on reserve both by the library and by University faculty for specific use in courses.

Placing Reserves by Faculty

Reserve items should be turned in to the library at least one week before the date when they will need to be available for check out. Books and readings are removed from reserves and returned to the stacks or the professor at the end of each quarter. Drop off the item(s) for reserves at the Del E. Webb Library Circulation desk. Include a completed Reserve Request Form.

Reserve Checkout and Overdue Policy

Checkout periods for reserve material may be 2 hours, 1 day, 3 days or 7 days, depending on the item. A maximum of five items may be checked out at any one time. Immediate renewal of reserve material is not permitted.

Reserve Overdue Fines:

  • 7-day: 1-day grace period; $2.00 per day fine accrues from the due date
  • 3-day: 1-day grace period; $2.00 per day fine accrues from the due date
  • 1-day: 4-hour grace period; $0.50 fine per hour or fraction of an hour accrues from the time due
  • 2-hour: 15-minute grace period; $1.00 fine per hour or fraction of an hour accrues from the time due

Study rooms

Individual and group (must be two or more) study rooms are available for the use of Loma Linda University students. Student ID is required. Room checkout time is an approximate two hour period (1.5 to 2.5 hours). The rooms are always due on the hour. The fine schedule is the same as a 2 hour reserve. Rooms are booked on a first-come, first-served basis at the circulation desk.

Study Carrels

Graduate students actively involved in research may check out study carrels for one quarter.

Photocopying

Photocopier Location

Photocopiers are located by the computers on third floor at the top of the main stairwell.

Photocopy Cards

At the circulation desk, students may charge cards to their student accounts, and departments may purchase cards by IRC. Cards may also be purchased with checks at circulation.

Photocopy Prices

Black and white copies are charged at $.10 a page. Color copies $.25 per page. All photocopying must be paid for using a photocopy card; cash is no longer accepted. See the circulation desk for purchasing a photocopy card.
